I had a great session with Rico King, an actor and model who I had worked with on a shoot before. He was brought into that shoot by Joseph David, of Dominate Personal Fitness, another one of my favorites to photograph. I really enjoyed working with him so I asked him if he wanted to work together again. He was overjoyed because he needed headshots to get started with his modeling and acting career. Well, he took those headshots we did and boy did he work hard. He got signed by a talent agency and has been doing some TV and lots of runway shows ever since.
I had this concept that I wanted to shoot, so I reached out to Rico, who was excited to try it. The concept was shape, shadows and form. I wanted very dramatic, shadowy lighting to illuminate the curves of his muscular body. My original idea was to make it so shadowy and close up that you almost can’t tell what body part it is. We didn’t focus on that idea exactly, but I’m very happy with the other direction that we went. Here are some of the photographs that were my favorites from the shoot.
